The Keys to Success for a PR Professional: Photoshop and InDesign

Photoshop and InDesign are two powerful programs that make for a successful PR Design. Photoshop is an image creation, graphic design, and photo editing software developed by Adobe.

In Photoshop you can edit a crop an image, change the color of the image, add layers to an image, blend images, remove elements, create smart objects, and much more. What's unique about Photoshop is that it can do all the nitty-gritty editing techniques that no other software can give you. When you see a photo taken and edited by a professional you can see the texture of someone's skin even after using Photoshop. Using any other editing app will not maintain the clarity of the photo. Majority if not all photographers most likely use photoshop to edit their photos before they release the final product.

InDesign is a software where you can create commercial print-ready files, interactive documents, and tablet-based applications like magazines, brochures, flyers, newspapers, etc. You can also take the images from Photoshop and incorporate them into your work in InDesign. InDesign combines text, images, and other page elements to produce things for online and print publication. Graphic designers, artists, publishers, and marketing professionals are some who use InDesign. InDesign is unique because it maintains advanced typesetting features to format text across pages, chapters, and publications.

What makes a good design is incorporating all the important information you need to convey into your design. As well as the use of colors, shapes, textures, spacing, and images in a balanced way that does not look too busy. You also want the design to reflect the aesthetic of the brand. You would not create a dog-themed design for a construction business.

Other PR practitioners can learn more about these softwares through LinkedIn Learning, by looking things up on the internet, downloading and practicing using the software, and watching videos on youtube.
